Major Technology Campus

A major technology campus in Livingston was left with an unsupported lighting control system after its previous provider ceased trading. The ageing system was driving up energy costs and offered limited flexibility. EGG Lighting was appointed to deliver a modern lighting control solution that would reduce operating costs while restoring full control of the site's lighting.

EGG Lighting migrated the existing lighting infrastructure and installed a secure, offline lighting control system tailored to the client's operational requirements. Our in-house R&D team developed a Raspberry Pi touchscreen interface, providing intuitive, secure control of the lighting network without reliance on cloud connectivity. The lighting was divided into zones and DALI-linked using our Bluetooth Multitool devices, leveraging Bluetooth Mesh technology to restore and enhance system functionality.

The new system enables facilities teams to adjust lighting levels as operational requirements evolve, with scheduled on, off and dimming periods based on occupancy and time of day.

Kinetic switches were also installed to future-proof the installation. Using energy harvesting technology, these switches require no wiring or external power, supporting the site's long-term sustainability objectives. Live energy monitoring via the Raspberry Pi interface allows facilities managers to track energy consumption in real time.
