The Project
The Garioch Sports Centre faced a significant challenge: its existing lighting fell short of the standards set by the Scottish Highland Football League, rendering the facility ineligible to host regional tournaments. EGG Lighting took on the mission to rectify this discrepancy and provide a state of the art flood lighting upgrade, bringing them up to compliance.

The Solution
Securing funding under the Scottish Government Climate Challenge Fund, EGG Lighting executed a comprehensive solution. The focus was on achieving high-quality, uniform lighting across the field to meet the stringent league standards. This necessitated a full lighting design, supply, and installation process. To ensure optimal performance, the beam angle on the luminaires was adjusted, providing the desired coverage.

Recognising the impact of high-power LEDs, a timer was integrated to manage the effects of excessive inrush current efficiently. Despite being a fully operational sports center, the pitch remained accessible throughout the project. EGG Lighting’s team, comprising NICEIC certified electricians, demonstrated efficiency by completing all on-site work in under one week.

The successful flood lighting upgrade not only brought the Garioch in line with football league standards but also enhanced the overall functionality of the sports center. The facility’s newfound eligibility to host regional tournaments marked a pivotal achievement.
